Can the membership be taken through online?
Membership form can be available from the Association's office or can be downloaded directly from the Association's website. The hard copy of the filled up form must be submitted to the Association's office either by post or by hand. There is no such system of submission of membership form through online. For direct submission of filled up membership form in the Association's office, one has to pay the membership fee by cash, cheque (in favour of BENGAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION) or demand draft (drawn in favour of BENGAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION, payable at Kolkata). However, one who wants to submit the membership form by post is requested to send the requisite fee along with the filled up form through cheque (in favour of BENGAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION) or demand draft (drawn in favour of BENGAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION, payable at Kolkata). However he/she can deposit the amount through net banking, RTGS or bank transfer to the following account:

For online transfer, one has to note down the transaction id and mention it at the top of the membership form.
How can I get a membership card or membership certificate?
The delivery of Membership card or Membership certificate is not obligatory. However, on request of the personal member, the membership certificate is issued in the Association's letterhead usually within one month of the request received.
A Life member can get Life Membership Card and for this he/she must apply to the General Secretary through mail with soft copy of his/her recent photograph. The usual time taken to get a card is usually 6-8 months. The mail address for correspondence is: blacal.org@gmail.com
How to become a member of the Association?
To become a member of the Association you need to fill-up and submit the Membership Form at the Association office within the working hours.

Is there any placement, campusing or campus interview at the end of the Certificate Course in Library Science?
No, there is no placement, campusing or campus interview at the end of the Certificate Course in Library Science.
To get membership, is there any age limit?
To get personal membership, the minimum age limit is 18 years. However for an institution, there is not any limit of its year of establishment.
What are the categories of members?
There are six categories of members. These are, Honorary Members; Donor Members; Life Members; Ordinary Members; Institutional Members; and Patrons.

What are the documents to be submitted along with the filled-up form of Certificate Course in Library Science?
Together with the filled-up form, one  has to submit recent colour photograph, self-attested photo id proof and self-attested photocopies of admit cards, mark-sheets  (upto 10+2) level [both side xerox].
What are the documents to be submitted along with the membership form?
For personal member, one has to submit recent colour photograph (pasted within the box of membership form) and a self-attested photo id proof (Voter id, Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc.). For institutional member, stamp of the institution must be pasted on the membership form.
What are the total number of seats of Certificate Course in Library Science?
The total number of seats of the Certificate Course in Library Science is 65 each (in Summer and Weak-end Session).
What is the membership fee?
The membership fee varies from category to category. One has to pay Rs.5000.00 for Donor Member, Rs.2000.00 for Life Member (for SAARC countries, it is Rs.1000.00 and for other than SAARC countries, it is Rs.2000.00), Rs.150.00 for Ordinary Member (for SAARC countries, it is Rs.250.00 and for other than SAARC countries, it is Rs.750.00) and Rs.300.00 for Institutional Member.

What is the membership year of the Association?
The membership year of the Association is the financial year, i.e., April to March.
What is the time of releasing Summar Session form?
Usually in the month of November-December in every year.
What is the time of releasing Week-end Session form?
Usually in the month of June-July in every year.
What is the working hours of BLA Office and Library in Padmapukur?
The working hours of BLA Office and Library are as follows:
Office: Monday - Saturday (1:30 pm to 8:30 pm). Sunday closed.
Library at Padmapukur: Monday - Wednesday & Friday - Saturday (1:30 pm to 8:30 pm) and Sunday (10:00 am to 4:00 pm). Thursday closed.
However, those want to go to the Office for submission of forms, payments, etc. are requested to go to the Office between 3.00 p.m.-7.00 p.m. on all working days.
