The Objectives of the Association are to :

Promote the library movement in Bengal

Diffuse the knowledge of scientific method of maintenance and organization of libraries and to organize library talks, lectures, conferences and exhibitions.

Print and publish any newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets, books, and leaflets, charts, posters, statistics that the Association may think desirable for the promotion of its objects

Collect and maintain a library and museum of publications and materials pertaining to the library movement and library science.

Promote and encourage bibliographical study and publish bibliographical information

Work for the enactment of such legislation as would be conductive to the extension of library facilities, better utilization and administration of libraries

Organize and conduct or help other institutions and organizations for maintaining and conducting training classes for library science or any of its nature

Work for the betterment of service conditions and for status of library personnel.

Promote and to establish and support and to aid in the establishment and support of other library organizations and kindred organizations engaged in promotion of education formed for all or any of the objects of the Association.

Work for the co-ordination of library and systematization of their methods

Help libraries in securing grants from Government and other public bodies and to help them in all possible ways.

Conduct examination in library science and to confer or award certificates and diplomas.

Raise donations and accept endowments for furtherance of library movement

Serve as an information bureau in respect of library matters

Borrow and raise money in such manner as the Association may think fit and proper for the attainment of any of the objects of the Association

Invest any money of the Association not immediately required for any of its objects, in such manner as may from time to time, be determined.

Purchase, take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal estate which may be deemed necessary or convenient for any of the purpose of the Association

Construct, maintain or alter any house, buildings or works necessary or convenient for the purpose of the Association

Take any gift or property, whether subject to any special trust or not, for any or more of the objects of the Association

Do such other lawful things as are incidental or conductive to the attainment of the objectives
